I was driving through town, stopped at a pedestrian crossing and saw this girl.

A girl with amazing hair.
Reddish-blonde, long, with a fringe.
The first few inches flat on her head,
with a dead-straight central parting,
and the rest of it crimped,
fluffed out and framing her head
like the ears of a cocker spaniel.
For a split-second
as she crossed the road in front of me
I thought
‘How strange – a dog wearing glasses!’
